Rescue dog AdjustMent period
Rescue dogs are loving companions but often come from difficult and traumatic backgrounds. Although no fault of their own, their lives in their previous homes and on the streets were often difficult, challenging, and tragic. When you adopt a rescue dog, extra patience, care, and
additional time for them to acclimate to a new life in your home will be needed. They will feel at home with you after some time, but this period varies and depends on their previous experiences and personality. Don’t you wish they could tell us about their past? We do too.
Just as with new puppies and kittens, rescue dogs need time to rest, feel safe, and become truly comfortable with you–and to trust that they are truly at home. The 3-3-3 rule is commonly shared to express this process.
