Preventing Worms & Heartworm

Intestinal worms are the ones referred to when someone says your kitten has “worms.” These kitten worms are treated with prescription medications and a healing diet to kill and eliminate them from your kitten’s digestive tract. Kittens often get worms from coming into contact with fleas, worm eggs, or even from their mother’s milk–if she had any intestinal parasites.

If your kitten’s poo is showing any strange signs like the ones below, be sure to bring them to see us so we can help get that issue cleared up before things get worse and your kitten’s health is at stake.

Heartworm, on the other hand, is a part of our kitten parasite prevention plan. Heartworm can appear after an infected mosquito bites your kitten or cat. The infection starts to spread, and heartworm begins to grow.

This can be life-threatening, which is why it’s important to test your pet annually for heartworm and begin heartworm prevention when your cat is still a kitten.
